Anna Turner

Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Shropshire

Biography

Born in Shropshire in 1958, Anna was appointed Lord-Lieutenant in January 2019 and is Shropshire’s first woman Lord-Lieutenant.  She is married to Jonathon and has two adult children and,  four grandchildren.

She has a long history of voluntary work as well as working in the family shipping office.  A magistrate for 27 years, Anna has been on the board of visitors for HM Prison Stoke Heath and was involved with the Samaritans, a charity for the blind, young cadets and the local foodbank.

Anna enjoys walking the Shropshire and Welsh border in remote corners, cycling, country sports, watching horse racing and riding horses herself.

Anna was delighted to become involved with the innovative Shropshire Virtual Show and supports wholeheartedly the inspirational idea.  Charities are finding fund raising very difficult during these austere times and they are vital to our communities health, welfare and happiness.   She looks forward to taking part in the show with the added bonus of no need for an umbrella, sore feet or fuel in the car!
